* Offre de post-doc - Max Planck Institut

New Emmy - Noether Research Group

We offer 2 PhD positions at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Biomaterials Department, in Potsdam, Germany .

The positions are part of a recently granted Emmy - Noether project which aims to explore interactions between biological membranes and the underlying physical interaction mechanisms. The focus is on experiments with realistic model systems of interacting biological membranes composed of various types of biomolecules. In particular we work with x-ray and neutron reflectometry as well as x-ray fluorescence at large international x-ray and neutron sources. The experimental results are compared with computer simulations in close cooperation with theory groups.Retour ligne manuel

The Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, a leading research institute in the fields of physical chemistry, materials, and life sciences,is located about 30min from the center of Berlin. The PhD students have intensive support by the research group leader, regular contact with the cooperation partners, and benefit from an interdisciplinary mentoring program at the Institute.
We encourage applications from highly-motivated students with a background in biophysics, physics, or chemistry, and very good English language skills. The work on the project could start as early as November 1, 2014.
