Postdoctoral Position, Organic Synthesis
For a one year postdoctoral position

As part of a research collaboration with Janssen Research & Development, a Division of Janssen-Cilag France, in Val de Reuil, the research team Organic Synthesis of the Department of Chemistry at the ESPCI ParisTech announces the availability of a full time postdoctoral position.
Job description : As an employee of the research team Organic Synthesis of the Department of Chemistry at the ESPCI ParisTech, you will develop and subsequently apply new methods for the synthesis of compounds of interest. Your research is expected to contribute to the identification of novel molecular entities for biological evaluation.

Your Profile : The ideal candidate for this position will have a PhD in organic chemistry with experience in transition metal-catalyzed reactions and/or natural compound synthesis, purification techniques and structural characterization of organic molecules. The ability to work in a team as well as good communication/writing skills and a good mastery of English as the preferred working language is essential.

Additional info : The ESPCI offers a 1-year contract. The selected candidate is expected to begin in April-June 2014.

Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) holds a high ranking position in the international research field of neutron and synchrotron radiation as well as in the solar energy research. In our locations at Berlin-Wannsee and Berlin-Adlershof around 1.100 heads of great talent from all over the world are concerned amongst others with structure research and trend setting thin-film-solar cell materials. The Scientific Division Solar Energy Research is seeking for the Institute Solar Fuels a Postdoctoral Research Scientist (f/m) in the fields of Physical Science, Chemistry or related disciplines.
Responsibilities :
Participation in the development and use of an in-situ electrochemical cell for soft X-ray spectroscopy (X-ray absorption (XAS), X-ray emission (XES), resonant inelastic scattering (RIXS)) at BESSY II synchrotron facility. With this cell deposition/corrosion processes and functional materials will be investigated in solution and at interfaces. Closely cooperation with students in the group and with collaboration partners.
Requirements :
Strong background in one or more of the following fields :
• Soft X-ray spectroscopy (XAS, XES, RIXS), liquid spectroscopy electrochemistry, photovoltaics
• Labview, CAD-design and quantum chemical computational methods
